A birdie blitz on his outward nine sent Jeev Milkha Singh to the top of UBS Hong Kong Open leaderboard early in the second round.
The Fanling course was once again drenched in sunlight suggesting scoring will be low for the second successive day after New Zealander Mark Brown shot an eight under 62 in the first round to take the overnight lead.
And it was Singh – starting on the tenth - who made his move as he rattled off four birdies in his first five holes before adding another on the 17th to reach the turn at five under.
The Indian dropped shots on the first and third holes but recovered with a birdie on the fourth to move onto four under for the day and 11 under overall.
Italy’s Matteo Manassero was six under through 13 holes to climb within two strokes of Singh and was alongside Anders Hansen, with the Dane five under through 11 holes.
Brown, meanwhile, was struggling to match his performance from the first round, managing just one birdie on the front nine whilst carding three successive bogeys from the sixth.
The 35 year old recovered with two birdies in his first three holes after the turn and was even par after 12 holes.
Brown was eight under overall alongside Denmark’s Soren Hansen and England’s Kenneth Ferrie, who reeled off three successive birdies from the second to make his move up the leaderboard.
Defending champion Gregory Bourdy was two under for the day and six under for the tournament with four holes remaining while Northern Irish duo Rory McIlroy - who shot a 63 to finish the first round second to Brown - and Graeme McDowell were still to tee off.
