Singh makes good start in Scotland

Jeev Milkha Singh showed that experience counts for everything as he took a share of the early lead on day one of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links.

The 2012 champion has struggled for form so far this season, making three cuts from 12 starts, but Castle Stuart is a happy hunting ground for the 44 year old and he made four birdies in his first 11 holes to share the lead with Bradley Dredge.

Singh made his gains on the fifth, sixth, ninth and tenth after going out in the very first group of the day while Dredge had birdies on the 11th and 15th, as well as making an eagle on the par five 12th as he turned in 32.

France's Alexander Levy and South Korean YE Yang were then both three under after ten holes with Nordea Masters champion Matthew Fitzpatrick at the same mark after seven with an eagle of his own on the 12th.

There was then a group of seven players at two under which included American Steve Stricker and home favourite Marc Warren.
