Siem maintains momentum in Germany

Marcel Siem continued to make the best of home advantage as he moved into a commanding lead over Thomas Detry in the last 16 of the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play.

The German spoke after his win on Friday of channelling his emotions into his golf in front of a home crowd and he continued his fine form to go four up after 11 holes on the Beckenbauer Course at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach.

After an hour's delay due to overnight storms, a par at the second moved him one up before Detry hit back but two pars and a birdie were enough to move Siem three up over the next three holes.

A bogey on the next left the door ajar for the Belgian but Siem holed a bunker shot on the ninth and then birdied the tenth to take control as the rain poured down in Bavaria.

Florian Fritsch had been enjoying a good week but he was struggling to make it an all German quarter final, trailing two down to Robert Rock after ten holes.

Rock won the first and second with pars before birdieing the eighth but Fritsch hit back with an eagle on the tenth.

Defending champion Anthony Wall was flying against Ryder Cup winner Jamie Donaldson, birdieing the third, fourth, sixth and seventh to sit four up.

China's Ashun Wu has arguably been the outstanding player of the week so far and he continued his fine play, winning the first, third and eighth to go three up against England's Chris Paisley.

England's Tom Lewis was two up against local favourite Alexander Knappe after six holes, with Johan Carlsson one up against Marcus Fraser and Adrian Otaegui leading Ashley Chesters by the same score.

The match between Paul Dunne and Alejandro Cañizares was all square at the turn.
