Sharjah Media Corporation has confirmed that they will support the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) to be held at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 March, 2018.
The media partnership involves enhanced TV coverage and behind the scenes interviews and features of the 54-hole tournament that boasts a prize fund of $425,000.
The tournament, the first on the 2018 Staysure Tour (formerly called the European Senior Tour), has a field of 54 professionals and three local amateurs, the latter having gained entry through a local qualifying round in Sharjah. Among the star names taking part in the event this week are last year’s Order of Merit winner Clark Dennis of America and South Africa’s Chris Williams, who won the inaugural Sharjah Senior Golf Masters after a play-off with Englishman Gary Marks and went on to finish second on the Order of Merit.
Nick Tarratt of the European Tour International, Dubai Office said: “It is always important to have local media participation in such golf events as this week’s being held in Sharjah in order to engage with the local community. The week’s golfing action was kicked off on Tuesday with a special Pro-Am to mark the tenth anniversary of Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club with Ryder Cup stars Ronan Rafferty, Des Smyth and Barry Lane as well as two-time Senior Major champion Roger Chapman joining club members and dignitaries for an unforgettable day out on the course.
Entry to the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq is free of charge.
