Peter Senior continued to lead the Senior Tour Challenge at the halfway stage of the Senior PGA Championship presented by Kitchenaid.
The Australian had a mixed second round with four bogeys, a double bogey and six birdies adding up to a level par 71.
At three under par the one-time Senior Tour winner is four shots behind leading American pair Kenny Perry and Russ Cochran, with the latter looking to add the title to the Senior Open Championship he won in 2011.
“I made a lot of birdies, made a lot of bogeys, but I just didn't play very well,” said Senior. “I drove it in the rough a lot today, and the lies I got in there were pretty bad. So I just had difficulty making pars. I was happy to get away with 71 today.”
Five-time Open Champion Tom Watson is also in the top ten after a 71 kept him two under for the week at Bellerive.
Scotland’s Andrew Oldcorn is the leading European on one over par, while German Bernhard Langer improved 12 shots on his opening 79 to defy the odds and make the cut on four over.
Roger Chapman, the defending champion, also made the cut on the mark, following an opening round 72 with a 74.
“I haven't played very well this week,” he said. So to make the cut was a bonus. I never got it going at all today. I missed a couple of short putts.”
Former Ryder Cup Captain Ian Woosnam signed for a 71 to also make the cut on four over par.
