Senior Open trophy on display at Manchester Golf Show

Golf fans will be able to get up close and personal with a piece of golfing history this weekend, when the Senior Open Championship trophy goes on display at the inaugural Manchester Golf Show.

The replica Claret Jug has been lifted by some of the legends of the game such as Gary Player, Tom Watson, Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples, who triumphed last year at Turnberry.

It is heading to the north west of England this weekend ahead of The 2013 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex taking place in the same area later this year, when Royal Birkdale Golf Club hosts the prestigious Championship for the first time from July 25-28.

As well as being able to see the Senior Open Championship trophy in person, golf fans will also be able to purchase discounted advance tickets for the Championship itself, where they will be able to watch more than 30 Major Champions in action at Royal Birkdale.

They will be on sale at The Senior Open Championship stand at the Manchester Golf Show, which takes place at EventCity, next to the Trafford Centre, from Friday April 5 to Sunday April 7.

Season tickets for The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex can be purchased for just £70 – a saving of £10 on the gate price.

One day tickets purchased cost £25, a saving of £5 on the gate price, while practice day tickets are also available at the reduced price of £12, a saving of £3 on the gate price. Under16s are admitted for free when accompanied by an adult and parking is also free.

The Senior Open Championship is one of two European Senior Tour events taking place in the north west of England in 2013, with the ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship moving to De Vere Mottram Hall, in Cheshire, from June 6-9.
