SDC Open: Tournament Guide

The 2024 Road to Mallorca begins in South Africa this week with the SDC Open at Zebula Golf Estate & Spa, Limpopo. Here’s everything you need to know going into the season-opening week…

It all starts here

Zebula Golf Estate - tee one

The 29-tournament Road to Mallorca schedule was announced in December, with the SDC Open providing the first opportunity for all 156 players in the field to put down an early marker for the rest of the year.

One of four consecutive co-sanctioned tournaments between the Challenge Tour and the Sunshine Tour, some of the best talent from the African continent will tee it up alongside the Challenge Tour’s finest.

Spanning 29 events in 18 countries across three continents, the leading 20 players at the conclusion of the Road to Mallorca will earn a life-changing DP World Tour card for the 2025 season.

Wild surroundings

Zebula Golf Estate - wildlife

Zebula Golf Estate & Spa provides a setting like few others. Situated in the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province, the course is surrounded by nature and wildlife, with animals such as kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, zebra and giraffe being regularly spotted. The course itself was designed by Peter Matkovich and is recognised as one of the best locations in the world for a bushveld layout.

Wire-to-wire triumph

JJ Senekal - 2023 SDC Open

Last year, JJ Senekal produced a scintillating display on home soil to secure a wire-to-wire triumph at Zebula. The South African carded rounds of 62-67-69-65 on his way to a 25 under par total and a four stroke win over countryman Casey Jarvis. Senekal narrowly missed out on promotion to the DP World Tour last term but returns to Limpopo hoping to go back-to-back on a course that holds fond memories.
