Scott hopes to finish 2020 'with a bang' at the Masters

Former Masters Champion Adam Scott is hoping to finish a year that started so brightly "with a bang" at Augusta National Golf Club this week.

Scott, who secured his only Major Championship title so far at the Masters Tournament in 2013, was in seriously good form at the turn of the year, closing 2019 with victory in the Australian PGA Championship on home soil.

He then began 2020 with another win - at the Genesis Invitational on the US PGA Tour in February, shortly before the coronavirus pandemic brought the season to a halt.

The 40-year-old was unable to get back to his best after golf's resumption and he then went on to test positive for Covid-19 in October.

Scott was pleased with his performance as he finished in a tie for 32nd on his return to action at last week's Vivint Houston Open in America, and he is looking for more of the same this time out.

He said: "I think it's been very challenging for me personally, and I'm not going to sit here and complain about how difficult it's been.

"I was in good form back then in the spring, and because of all the circumstances, it's really affected my preparation and my practice, and many things since returning.

"But coming back here this week, since testing positive, last week wasn't too bad.

"There was a lot of good stuff in there, and hopefully the work that I have done and been able to do the last couple of months will accumulate and I'll be able to finish the year with a bang here this week."
