Charl Schwartzel turned in a four under par 33 to take the lead during the final round of the Africa Open at East London Golf Club.
The three-time European Tour winner moved to 18 under par with four unanswered birdies on the way out.
That put the World Number 66 – the highest ranked player in the field – one ahead of Australian Rick Kulacz and compatriots Jbe’ Kruger and Trevor Fisher Junior.
Kulacz was six under for the day but had just two holes remaining, while Kruger was two under through eight.
Fisher, who had led at the end of every round so far, birdied the first and third to put himself in pole position but saw his good work undone with a double bogey at the fifth.
Another South African, Thomas Aiken, had held a joint lead with Fisher overnight, but could only play his first seven holes in level par and remained 16 under.
That was the same mark as the leading Europeans – Swede Pelle Edberg and England’s James Morrison, both of whom had five holes left to play.
