Each season the European Challenge Tour welcomes 20 up-and-coming players from Europe’s satellite tours who will be bidding to continue their climb up the echelons of European golf.
We take a closer look at the five players who earned their card via the Nordic Golf League.
Niklas Nørgaard Møller
The runaway Order of Merit winner on the Nordic Golf League, Nørgaard Møller proved to be Mr. Consistent in 2019, amassing an incredible 13 top ten finishes.
The Dane had three consecutive runner-up finishes in May, which formed the start of a brilliant stretch of 12 events where he finished outside the top ten on only one occasion.
Despite his exceptional golf, the 27-year-old waited until the penultimate event of the year, the Race to Himmerland - Presented by FREJA, to claim his first win of the season, a result he followed up with a second place finish at the season-ending Tour Final by Pärnu Bay Golf Links.
Christopher Sahlström
Sahlström marked himself as one to watch in 2020 after racking up an incredible four Nordic Golf League victories in the space of just seven events during the middle of the 2019 season. The Swede’s historic run started on home soil at the Barsebäck Resort Masters in May, before going on to capture three titles in four starts at the Tinderbox Charity Challenge - For De Vildeste Fugle, Camfil Nordic Championship and Borre Open.
With just seven career Challenge Tour appearances to his name, the 26-year-old will be a relatively new face when he begins on the Road to Mallorca. However, if his Nordic Golf League form is anything to go by, expect that to change.
Elias Bertheussen
Bertheussen returns to the Challenge Tour after a standout season on the Nordic Golf League. The Norwegian was the definition of consistency in 2019, recording 13 top ten finishes, including a second career victory at the Esbjerg Open - by EnergiMetropol Esbjerg, on his way to finishing third on the satellite circuit’s Order of Merit.
The 29-year-old played a maiden season on the Challenge Tour in 2015, with his best result coming at the 2017 Viking Challenge, where he finished in tie for 15th.
Haraldur Magnus
Magnus will be bidding to become the second Icelandic player to triumph on the Challenge Tour when he kickstarts his maiden season in South Africa later this month.
He certainly showed the goods to compete in a strong 2019 Nordic Golf League campaign, earning promotion courtesy of four runner-up placings and four further top five finishes.
The 28-year-old has just one previous Challenge Tour start to his name but has already tasted Major Championship action after qualifying for the 147th Open Championship.
Nicolai B Kristensen
The final man to secure his card via the Nordic Golf League, Kristensen booked a rookie Challenge Tour season after finishing fifth on the Scandinavian circuit.
The Dane earned his first professional victory at the 2019 Master of the Monster and wrapped up his card with nine further top ten finishes.
With a first win under his belt, Kristensen looks set for a strong debut on the Challenge Tour action in 2020.
