While some of the world’s leading golfers are creating art with their clubs, one man is doing the same with a rake.
In advance of this week’s Dubai Invitational, Nathaniel Alapide made his mark on the course at Dubai Creek Resort by creating a drawing of the trophy among other complex designs.
Since first creating artwork across beaches and deserts in 2014 as a tribute for his late grandmother, the Dubai-based Filipino has honed his skill and made it a profession.
Now a Guinness World Record holder, Alapide is using UAE’s sands as his canvas.
“For me, to be able to do it at Dubai Creek is a pleasure,” he said.
“I thought the sand in a bunker would be a difficult thing to work on but the guys here made sure the sand is perfect for me to work on.
“It’s really an amazing thing to experience the world of golf… The guys carry their golf club and I carry my rake!
“It’s an amazing experience. I would do it again if I was given the chance.”
