Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play day two - What they said

There are 16 players left at the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play after a thrilling day's play on Friday.

Johan Carlsson

Here, we take a look at what some of the winners had to say after they advanced from the second round in Bavaria.

Jamie Donaldson (beat Jorge Campillo 4 and 3)

"Two down after two was not your ideal start. I've not hit a bad shot, he just birdied the second and probably would have birdied the first. There's loads can happen in these games, there's 18 holes. You're two down after two but I played nicely yesterday, knew I was playing well today. Two holes later I've made a couple of birdies and we're flat, that's just how easy it turns round and suddenly you're up and you're going the other way. You've just got to remain patient and keep hitting good shots you can't get down on yourself. You want to try and get it done as quickly as possible."

Chris Paisley (beat Nathan Kimsey 4 and 2)

"I played a lot better today. It was a lot more comfortable, played really solid, never really gave Nathan a look in, I think it was one hole I gave him but other than that it was always a fairly simple par or giving myself a decent chance at birdies so happy with that. I really enjoy match play. I find it really easy to get into the right mindset, I guess because it's so finite. If you mess a hole up it doesn't really matter, I find it really easy to get into a really positive mindset."

Johan Carlsson (beat Matthew Southgate 4 and 2)

"I keep loving match play. For some reason I feel like I can play quite relaxed when I'm playing match play. I'm not saying I'm not playing relaxed otherwise but it's just a bit easier only having one person to beat instead of the whole field. You know standing on the tee that a couple of bad shots is not going to kill you. Today was good. I played really solid, putted well and gave myself a lot of chances."

Paul Dunne (beat Jens Fahrbring 4 and 3)

"It was okay. I struggled a little bit with my driver and I drove it much better yesterday but apart from that my game is solid. I didn't miss any putts that I really should have made inside ten feet apart from on the first. I had plenty of birdies gave myself plenty of chances and when I got ahead I just kept putting my foot down. He didn't take advantage when I put myself out of position towards the end of the front nine and then on the back nine I played pretty solid, made a few birdies and closed the door."
