It appears Ryan Fox’s golf talents extend to coaching – with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar benefiting from his guidance.
Former India batsman Tendulkar, DP World’s global cricket ambassador, was a guest at the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai on Thursday.
After meeting four-time Major Champion Rory McIlroy, Tendulkar received an impromptu putting lesson from New Zealand sporting star Fox.
“For me, it actually feels a little bit like cricket... trying to keep everything square,” said Fox as he showed Tendulkar his grip and putting stroke.
Tendulkar was quick to try and implement what he had learned, with the technique making an immediate difference as he rolled in his putt.
“There we go, one and done,” Fox joked.
Four-time DP World Tour winner Fox, who claimed his first Rolex Series title at the BMW PGA Championship in September, revealed the technique has resulted in a big improvement to his putting.
“I went from a poor putter to better than average and just that little bit has made a massive difference,” he said.
Fox sits in a tie for 34th at one under par after the opening two rounds of the season-ending DP World Tour Championship over the Earth course.
