Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam, the winning Ryder Cup Captains in 2002 and 2006, led the entertainment after the Tuesday Pro-Am, pitching from the balcony onto the 18th green.

They were joined by Irish trio Eamonn Darcy, Eddie Polland, Des Smyth, Italian Costantino Rocca and Barry Lane, who makes his European Senior Tour debut this week.

Each player had two attempts to pitch their ball closest to the pin, with Smyth and Darcy making it through to the final where Smyth eventually came out on top.

With Gordon J Brand, Gordon Brand Jnr and Sandy Lyle making it ten former Ryder Cup players in the field, the 2010 De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship has one of the strongest line ups in the event’s proud heritage which stretches back to 1957.
