Ryder Cup heroes Garcia and Olesen to battle for BMW International Open title

The most successful Ryder Cup player of all time, Sergio Garcia, will be joined by Ryder Cup rookie Thorbjørn Olesen when the BMW International Open returns to Golfclub München Eichenried from June 19-23.

Sergio Garcia

The pair, part of the European Ryder Cup side which defeated the United States 17 ½ - 10 ½ at Le Golf National last September, have been runners-up in Germany over the last two years, with Garcia missing out on the 2017 title by one stroke to Andres Romero and Olesen beaten by Matt Wallace in 2018, also by one stroke.

Garcia made history in Paris last year as he earned three points from four matches, taking him to 25 ½ individual points won at Ryder Cup, eclipsing the record set by Nick Faldo.

"I can't wait to return to one of my favourite cities in the world," said the 2017 Masters champion. "I'm looking forward to the fans in Munich and to the tournament."

Jhonattan Vegas

Jhonattan Vegas will also tee it up at the BMW International Open for the first time as he makes his European Tour debut in June. The Venezuelan finished third at The PLAYERS Championship on the US PGA Tour earlier this month.

Joining Martin Kaymer in the hunt for the second BMW International Open victory after his own success in 2008 will be veteran Alex Cejka and Munich native Stephan Jäger, who learned his craft at GC München Eichenried. Max Kieffer will also tee it up on home soil, joined by Florian Fritsch, Bernd Ritthammer and Marcel Siem.

Entry is free for Tuesday's practice rounds and Wednesday's pro-am, while children and young people up to the age of 17 can enjoy free entry for each day of the tournament. On the Corpus Christi Bank Holiday (Thursday June 20), anyone wearing traditional dress (Lederhosen or Dirndl) will also receive free entry.

Thursday and Friday tickets cost €15 and Saturday and Sunday tickets cost €30. Season tickets are available for €75 and VIP tickets for the Fairway Club are available from €275. For more informationclick here.

Entry includes a free shuttle service between Ismaning train station and GC München Eichenried (Thursday to Sunday) and – weather permitting – free parking at the tournament site.
