Costantino Rocca delighted a large local Italian population with a magnificent last round of 62 to snatch the title by one stroke from Robert Karlsson, who had won in Munich the previous week, and Scott Henderson. Rocca posted his 18-under-par 266 target with an hour of play still left and nobody was able to catch him. He relaxed in the Players' lounge as his challengers gave chase, the best chances coming to Karlsson and Henderson, who both missed good birdie chances to tie on the 18th. Rocca followed an outward 30 with three consecutive birdies from the 13th.
