Mark McNulty began the final round at five under - four ahead of Jose Coceres, Frank Nobilo, Andrew Oldcorn, Gary Orr, Wayne Riley and Lee Westwood and, out in 35 started home with successive birdies with putts of ten and six feet. Thereafter he played controlled golf and with a 20 foot birdie at the 18th secured a seven shot win - the largest winning margin during 1996. Wayne Westner's equal best of the day 67 and Sam Torrance's 68 earned them a share of second place with Coceres and Westwood, who birdied the 17th.
