European Chllenge Tour graduate Diego Borrego remained 'tranquilo' despite three bogeys in a mixed bag last round to reach a sudden-death play-off aginst Tony Johnstone. Trailing the Zimbabwean by one, Borrego made his sixth birdie of the round at the 14th where Johnstone three putted from 70ft. Johnstone, however, birdied the last to force a play-off and, after putting Borrego under immense pressure to make pars at the first two extra holes, overran his 40ft birdie putt at the 17th (third extra hole) and Borrego chipped beautifully to two feet for his birdie to become the fifth new winner of the 1996 European Tour season.
