Ross Fisher carded his lowest DP World Tour round in over two years to put himself right in contention heading into the weekend at the Soudal Open.
The Englishman has been one of the most consistent performers on the DP World Tour for the best part of two decades, finishing in the top 100 on the Rankings every season between 2006 and 2022, with five wins and a victorious Ryder Cup appearance along the way.
Last season, however, he was the last player to keep his card via the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership wth Rolex, finishing 116th, and currently sits 138th in the 2024 standings.
He started the season with a pair of top 20s but has secured just one top 50 since, although he has made a mockery of that form so far this week at a wet Rinkven International Golf Club.
An opening 66 was followed by a 63 - his lowest round since he carded one of four 62s on a low-scoring day at the 2022 MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood and the ninth sub-64 round of his career in 456 DP World Tour appearances.
The 43-year-old now heads into the weekend bogey-free at 13 under and with a golden opportunity to claim a first win in over a decade.
"It was a great day," he said. "We were lucky with the weather. We got nine holes of decent weather, no breeze, no rain.
"Played pretty steady on the back nine, our front nine, and then strung together four birdies in a row. Playing nicely and unfortunately the showers started on the front nine, which made it a little tricky. Was battling away, made some good par saves on two, three, four, another birdie on five.
Solid couple of days #SoudalOpen @DPWorldTour . Game feels good. Looking forward to pushing more over the weekend 💪🏻

"The last few holes played really tough, they were long. It was wet, cold. Nice to sign off with a long putt for birdie. Will put my feet up now and wait for tomorrow.
"Good to go bogey-free. Played nicely yesterday, had to hole one putt for par from maybe ten feet as I was out of position from the tee. Barring that I’ve played steady, hit it well off the tee, some nice shots into the greens. It’s nice to see all the hard work pay off on the greens.
"That’s 13 birdies and no bogeys, hopefully continue on the weekend."
