Rose 'ready to go' in Mexico

Justin Rose feels fresh and "ready to go" at this week's WGC-Mexico Championship as he aims to become only the third man to win back-to-back World Golf Championships titles.

Rose arrives at Chapultepec Golf Club fresh from a four-week break and has the chance to join Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson as the only back-to-back winners of WGCs after producing a stunning Sunday comeback to win the WGC-HSBC Champions in China last year.

The 37 year old, who also won the 2012 WGC-Cadillac Championship, said: "I've had four weeks off, so sometimes that positions you, you come out slightly unsure of exactly where you're going to be after four weeks, but I'm coming in fresh.

"The reason for taking a few weeks off was to essentially just sort of re-balance the system a little bit. I travelled so much at the end of last year and the beginning of this year that I kind of knew there might be a cost to that at some point, so I just preemptively took a few weeks off.

"I also really wanted to work on my game. Obviously I've been playing really well but there were a few things I wanted to tune up and here we are in Mexico and ready to go."

Rose knows strategy is going to be very important at this week's host course as 45 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking go head-to-head.

He added: "I think it's the kind of golf course that suits everybody and offers everybody the opportunity to play well.

"It's very strategic, there's a lot of wedges in hand for most of the field. It's about kind of just getting the ball in the hole this week."

China's Li Haotong is hopeful the manner in which he closed out his sensational victory at last month's Omega Dubai Desert Classic will help him as he tees it up at this event for the first time.

Dubai gave me a lot of experience, a lot of confidence, it will help me go through a lot of big events now - Li Haotong

Trailing four-time Major winner Rory McIlroy by two shots with eight holes left to play at Emirates Golf Club, Li birdied four of his last six holes to sign for a closing 69 and get to a record low event total of 23 under par, beating the Northern Irishman by a single stroke.

And Li believes that experience will help him as he prepares to take on the world's best.

He said: "Dubai gave me a lot of experience, a lot of confidence, it will help me go through a lot of big events now.

"You're against Rory and he's one of the best in the world.

"If you can beat him, you can beat everyone."
