Rose leads as weather holds up Masters on Moving Day

Justin Rose played his first six holes in level par to maintain his one shot lead before inclement weather caused a delay on day three of the 2021 Masters Tournament.

The Englishman entered Saturday at Augusta National with a one shot advantage at seven under but extended that to three with a blistering birdie-birdie start.

Bogeys on the fourth and fifth then brought him back to the pack and when the hooter sounded, just three shots separated the top ten.

Play resumed at 5.15pm local time.

European Tour affiliate member and playing partner Will Zalatoris was his closest challenger, one shot clear Canadian Corey Conners, Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, Australian Marc Leishman and World Number Two Justin Thomas.

Conners produced the highlight of Moving Day so far as he made a hole-in-one on the sixth, and at three under through 12 holes, he was the in-form man on the course.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger was level par after eight holes to sit at four under alongside Americans Brian Harman, Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth.

Rose just missed a bunker off the first tee but took advantage by putting an approach to 12 feet and when he got up and down at the par five second, he was flying.

He found sand off the tee at the par three fourth and then did the same with his second at the next to slip back to seven under.

American Zalatoris had almost driven the green at the par four third and got up and down but joined Rose in dropping a shot on the fourth as he three putted from just off the green.

Rose was safely on the seventh green when play was suspended, while Zalatoris was looking at a tricky up-and-down for par.

Conners' ace on the sixth was right at the flag and took three hops before finding the cup to go with three other birdies and two bogeys.

Matsuyama was one under through ten holes, Thomas was one under after eight and Leishman was level through seven.

Patrick Reed - the 2018 champion - fired a 70 to share the clubhouse lead at one under.
