Reigning Race to Dubai champion Rory McIlroy will return to Wentworth Club for the 2025 BMW PGA Championship from September 9-14, with tickets for the Festival of Golf now on sale here.
The Northern Irishman recently won his sixth Harry Vardon Trophy as he claimed his fourth worldwide victory in 2024 at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, adding to his Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Zurich Classic of New Orleans and Wells Fargo Championship successes.
McIlroy was in imperious form on the 2024 Race to Dubai, recording seven top five finishes in addition to his two wins in Dubai as he joined the late, great Seve Ballesteros on six season-long rankings victories.
The four-time Major Champion has an impressive record at the BMW PGA Championship, with a victory in 2014 and three runner-up finishes on the West Course at the iconic Surrey venue.
McIlroy finished runner-up to Billy Horschel at this year’s BMW PGA Championship after a thrilling play-off. On the second extra hole, McIlroy narrowly missed his eagle putt as he tapped in for birdie, with Horschel holing his own eagle attempt from long range to win the title for the second time in four years.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship,” said the World Number Three. “I’ve had some great results on the West Course in the past and it was a thrill being back in contention again this year. The crowds were out in force and I would love the chance to go one better in 2025.”
The Rolex Series event assumes a key position on the 2025 Race to Dubai as part of The Back 9 and will also form part of Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup side’s final preparations ahead of Europe’s showdown in golf’s greatest team contest against the United States at Bethpage Black in New York a fortnight later.
The BMW PGA Championship Festival of Golf takes place just outside central London, attracting more than 100,000 spectators across the week, with the world class action inside the ropes complemented by live entertainment on the Showstage and an unrivalled atmosphere in the Spectator Village.
The star-studded Wednesday Celebrity Pro-Am will bring together global celebrities alongside some of golf’s most famous players in the traditional fun-filled curtain raiser to the main event.
BMW group owners will once again receive preferred parking benefits, with park & ride and shuttle services from local train stations also available free of charge to all spectators.
