Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final: Three to Watch

The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A returns to Club de Golf Alcanada this week for the conclusion of the 2024 Road to Mallorca. Here are three players to look out for…

Form horse - Oliver Lindell

Oliver Lindell (5)

Oliver Lindell has featured as the form horse on more than one occasion this season and does so again for the final event of the campaign. That’s due to him finishing inside the top ten in each of his last seven starts which has seen him climb to fifth in the Road to Mallorca Rankings to all-but guarantee his place on the DP World Tour next season. His good form actually goes back much further than that. In his last 14 starts on the Challenge Tour, he has finished inside the top 20 on 12 occasions. The only thing missing from his resume this season is a win.

Local boy – Angel Ayora

Angel Ayora (7)

Angel Ayora has enjoyed a dream start to life as a professional and arrives in Mallorca knowing that he will be playing on golf’s Global Tour next season after a string of impressive displays this year. The Spaniard, who secured a maiden Challenge Tour title in his first full season at the Rosa Challenge Tour in September, finished tied second last time out in the Hangzhou Open to give himself an outside chance of ending the season as the Road to Mallorca Number One. Should he win this week, and other results go his way, that could become reality.

The outsider – Ben Schmidt

Ben Schmidt (3)

When he needed it most, Ben Schmidt found his best form of the season to guarantee his place in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final this week. The Englishman arrived in China at the start of October 75th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, and as the penultimate man in the field. Fast-forward two weeks, and two top ten finishes later, he finds himself in the end-of-season showpiece, and in with a realistic shot at promotion. Schmidt sits 38th on the Rankings and will need a top two finish to give himself the best chance to do just that.
