The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A saw the conclusion of the 2024 Road to Mallorca season, with 22 players earning a life-changing card for the DP World Tour.
During four days of drama at Club de Golf Alcanada, here are five things you may have missed…
Reitan makes biggest of moves
Kristoffer Reitan timed his climb into the promotion places perfectly. After spending much of the 2024 Road to Mallorca outside the top 50 in the Rankings, four top 16 finishes in his last four starts, including a maiden victory in the season finale at Club de Golf Alcanada booked his return to the DP World Tour.
The Norwegian began the end-of-season showpiece 36th in the season-long Rankings and teed it up in round one knowing that anything but a top three finish would see his promotion hopes disappear. Opening rounds of 65-64 put him in position to do just that, before he carded consecutive 68’s over the weekend to earn a memorable win and a 29-place jump up the Rankings to earn promotion.
Bjerregaard holds on
Two-time DP World Tour winner Lucas Bjerregaard had a two-hour wait on the final day in Mallorca to find out if he’d done enough to secure a return to golf’s Global Tour.
The Dane started the week 20th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings and needing to stay within the top 22 to regain his card. He did that by the barest of margins, with the likes of Englishman Jamie Rutherford, Scotsman Euan Walker and his countryman Nicolai Kristensen all threatening to push him outside the promotion places on a dramatic final day. Bjerregaard would end the season on 684 points, just 17 points ahead of Rutherford who agonisingly missed out.
The French four
Alexander Levy, Benjamin Hebert, Martin Couvra and Pierre Pineau made it a week to remember for France, with the quartet all ending the week with a DP World Tour card.
For five-time DP World Tour winner Levy, and six-time Challenge Tour victor Hebert, they had all-but secured their return prior to the week at Port d’Alcudia. Couvra and Pineau meanwhile, were hoping a strong outing would punch their ticket to golf’s Global Tour. Couvra made sure of his card with a seventh place finish in Mallorca to end the year 17th in the Rankings, with Pineau earning promotion in 20th.
Lindell continues hot streak
Oliver Lindell ended the 2024 Challenge Tour season as the Road to Mallorca Number Three after a sensational run of form towards the end of the year.
The Finn finished fourth at Club de Golf Alcanada to record an eighth top ten finish in a row. His last four starts of the season saw him finish second-third-second-fourth to conclude a remarkable run and a maiden promotion to the DP World Tour. He’ll be looking to continue that trend when he tees it up on the 2025 Race to Dubai.
Green Drive success
The Green Drive returned at the par four 15th hole for the second successive year at Club de Golf Alcanada. For every player that drove the green, €100 was to be donated to a local tree planting and organic farming project through the Mallorca Preservation Foundation.
In total 31 players drove the green, resulting in €3,100 being raised, before the donation amount was rounded up to €5,000 by the European Tour group.
