Robin raring to go on Challenge Tour

Robin Sciot-Siegrist is looking to make a fast start to life as a professional golfer when he tees it up at Tecina Golf for the Fred Olsen Challenge de España.

The Frenchman is joining the paid ranks after a promising amateur career, where impressive performances in the Arnold Palmer Cup and the Amateur Championship made him the World Amateur Number 22.

And after completing his studies at the University of Louisville this summer, the 23 year old is eager to begin his career on the European Challenge Tour.

“I am really excited to finally get started,” said Sciot-Siegrist, who has the best career stroke average in University of Louisville history.

“I have played three tournaments in a row so I am a little tired, but I am starting to manage that now and make sure I carry on strong in the next events I do. But overall I feel like I am in the game and can’t wait to get started at somewhere as beautiful as this.

“The Palmer Cup was a great experience and beating the Americans is always nice. It was like a little Ryder Cup with all the organisation, the television cameras and the ceremonies – and I won all my matches there – so it was an awesome experience.

“Before that I played in the British Amateur where I narrowly lost in round four. I was the last of the people who made the cut but I managed to do well in the knock out stages.

“I then went on to play in the European Amateur Team Championships, I only came back on Saturday so am a little tired, but overall it has been a great experience.”

Known for being straight off the tee, the Paris man is confident that he has the game to compete with some of European golf’s best rising stars on the Challenge Tour.

“My iron game is pretty strong right now,” he said. “I am doing really good around the greens too.

“My driving has always been a strength for me – I manage to keep it pretty straight – so I don’t really see an area where I’m struggling. There are some aspects of my game that I could improve but overall I am feeling pretty good.

“I have seen the scores this year but I know I can shoot low. It might take me a little bit of time to go as low but I have done it in the past and I can certainly do it again.

“Thanks to the French Federation I am going to get a couple of invites and I hope that in these tournaments I will do something big.

“Whether that is winning a tournament or getting through Second or Final Stage at Qualifying School, I do not know – just something really big in the next couple of months.”
