David Ravetto is eager to build on his impressive recent form at this week’s Swiss Challenge, taking place at Golf Saint Apollinaire, to kickstart a strong finish to the 2022 Road to Mallorca.
The Frenchman has three top 15 finishes in his last three starts and narrowly missed out on a maiden European Challenge Tour title at last week’s Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos, after losing out to countryman Pierre Pineau in a dramatic play-off.
Ravetto’s tie for second, alongside compatriot Félix Mory, catapulted him inside the top 45 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and he is now looking to build on his best Challenge Tour finish.
“Last week was really enjoyable,” he said. “I managed to get myself in the play-off after making a great par putt on 17 and a fantastic up and down from the bunker on 18. The play-off was between myself, Félix and Pierre making it an all French affair which was pretty special because we are great friends and have known each other since we were 12 years old. Pierre managed to hole a 60-foot eagle putt to win which was amazing for him.
“I learnt a lot from last week because I played in the final group which meant I was under a lot of pressure. I managed to shoot a four under par round in that environment and keep myself calm throughout without looking at the leaderboard. I’m really happy with my performance and I’ve taken a lot of positives heading into this week.”
The 25-year-old currently occupies 36th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and he is hoping for another strong performance this week to break into the top 20 on the Rankings with just five events left to play.
“I’ve had a really good month on the Road to Mallorca and my goals have changed,” he said. “My Challenge Tour card is now secure for next year, so my first target is to finish inside the top 45 to make the Grand Final in Mallorca and then the aim is to finish in the top 20 and secure my DP World Tour card. I’m going to give it my all until the end of the season.”
Ravetto will be joined at Golf Saint Apollinaire by Road to Mallorca Number One Alexander Knappe, who is targeting his third victory on the 2022 Road to Mallorca and subsequently automatic promotion to the DP World Tour.
