Rasmus Højgaard closed in on booking his Major Championship debut as he maintained his hugely impressive form on the UK Swing with a top three finish at the 2020 English Championship.
The 19-year-old Dane sits second on the UK Swing Order of Merit and is close to securing a top ten finish - which would secure a spot at the U.S. Open Championship next month.
Following a second place finish at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Lee Westwood and last week's tied sixth at the Hero Open, Højgaard came third at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & CC thanks to a flawless final round of 64.
Starting the day 16th, the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open champion started with a run of three successive birdies from the first.
Further gains at the ninth, 12th, 13th and 18th moved him up to third on the leaderboard, one shot behind Adrian Otaegui in second and eight behind runaway leader Andy Sullivan.
And following his incredible start to the UK Swing, Højgaard will now take a breather as the European Tour heads to Wales.
The in-form youngster said: "I’ve been consistent I guess. I’ve been having a good couple of weeks and I’ve been happy with how the game has been trending.
“That U.S. Open spot is obviously what I really want right now. I think I’ve made my ticket to the U.S. Open now, I’m very happy.
“I’m going to take at least one week off now, I’m not sure if I’m playing the second one at Celtic Manor but I’m definitely going home for a week to relax a little bit and get ready for the next couple of tournaments.”
