Rain delays round three in Germany

The leaders were yet to go out in round three of the BMW International Open as heavy rain caused a delay at Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof.

Leading duo Henrik Stenson and Raphaël Jacquelin were due to go out at 1.20pm with the third man at 11 under - Kiradech Aphibarnrat - due out nine minutes earlier with Thorbjørn Olesen, who was a shot further back.

Heavy rain had led to the suspension of play at 11.59am, however, and Tournament Director David Williams revealed while the forecast was not good for the rest of day, he was hopeful of getting some play.

"This is what we don't want to happen but every now and then it does," he said.

"I have been talking to Mike McLellan the weatherman and it looks like it might stay fairly constant out there.

"There are certain breaks where it might ease up a little bit and might stop but only for a short time and if that is the case it will be very difficult to get back out and play.

"But we will wait and see.

If it does stop, the course and certainly the playing areas such as the greens can dry out quite quickly and we are hoping to get some golf done today - David Williams, Tournament Director

"If we don't play again today we can still finish the third round tomorrow and start and finish the fourth round tomorrow."

In the early proceedings, David Horsey and YE Yang made the big moves as they picked up four shots to move to five under for the week.

England's Horsey had an eagle on the 13th and four birdies on his card, although he dropped shots on the fourth and tenth, while former US PGA Championship winner Yang had four birdies in his 13 holes.

France's Clément Berardo was a shot ahead as he made two birdies in his first four holes.

South Africa's Zander Lombard was yet to go out at nine under, with defending champion Pablo Larrazábal, Felipe Aguilar, Darren Fichardt and Joost Luiten all two shots further back.
