Englishman Rai came into day four with a six-shot lead over his nearest challengers but that advantage was reduced to five after the final group had completed three holes in the pouring rain at Hong Kong Golf Club.

Matthew Fitzpatrick opened his final round with back-to-back birdies to get to 12-under-par and within four of the lead before Rai, who is looking to claim his maiden European Tour title, tapped in for a birdie at the long third to jump to 17 under.

Sergio Garcia also started brightly on Sunday, picking up shots at the second and third to move into third place on 11 under.
