Jon Rahm will begin the defence of his Race to Dubai title at this week's 2020 WGC-Mexico Championship as he goes in search of a third consecutive European Tour victory.
The 25-year-old claimed his fourth Rolex Series title at the 2019 season ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai and in the process became just the second Spaniard after the great Seve Ballesteros to lift the Harry Vardon Trophy.
His victory in the Middle East was his second in a row on the European Tour after his triumph at the Mutuactivos Open de España, and he has registered two runner up finishes worldwide since winning it all at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
With Spanish speaking locals and a third place finish in 2017, Rahm admits he is comfortable at Chapultepec Golf Club, and feels more honour than pressure as the man everyone wants to replace as Europe's Number One.
"It's an honour," he said. "I was able to make Spanish history that week in Dubai and enjoy my name next to Seve's.
"To be the only two players to win the Race to Dubai, for me it's a huge honour. Anybody that knows and follows me (knows) Seve is a huge influence of mine and to be able to do that is incredible."
He has another opportunity to follow is Ballesteros' footsteps this week as he could become just the second Spaniard to reach the top of the Official World Golf Ranking.
That is a scenario Rahm has found himself in before and he will not be changing his gameplan in an attempt to achieve one of his biggest career goals.
"Reaching World Number One would be incredible," he said. "No player since Seve has been able to achieve it and it is a dream that we have since childhood.
"It is a consequence of playing well week after week and what I have to do is concentrate on playing well and I hope I win this week to be Number One in the world starting Sunday.
"The main goal is to win championships, win tournaments, and play my best every week I can. Those Rankings are basically a consequence of what I do on the golf course, so I've got to take care of business first."

After local heroes Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz, Rahm is likely to be among the crowd favourites in Mexico City, and he is happy to be able to help grow the game among the Spanish speaking community.
"It's always nice to come to a country where they speak Spanish," he said. "The culture, it's a lot more similar to what it is in Spain. Good food, good hospitality, good golf course. It doesn't really get much better than this.
"It´s an honour to come here, it is a great city and the tournament and course are amazing. It is one of my favourite stops of the year.
"After my good result in 2017, it is a tournament that I would like to win as a Hispanic and if a Mexican does not win, it would be great for a Spanish speaker to win. I will do my best to win this week.
"It would be an honour to be able to win an event on the PGA Tour and European Tour and World Golf Championships and give the winning speech in Spanish. That would be quite an honour."
