Jon Rahm blew away Charles Howell III 6 and 4 to set up a quarter-final against Søren Kjeldsen at the WGC - Dell Technologies Match Play.
The Spaniard has made a brilliant start to his European Tour career since joining on March 1, finishing in a tie for third at the WGC - Mexico Championship and getting through the group stages with a 100 per cent record here at Austin Country Club.
That earned him a clash against American Howell and he made five birdies in his 14 holes to ease into the last eight where fellow European Tour Member Kjeldsen awaits.
The Dane achieved a stunning result on Wednesday in beating World Number Two Rory McIlroy and he continued that fine form with a 5 and 4 win over William McGirt.
Phil Mickelson also made his way into the quarter-finals with a 4 and 3 victory over Marc Leishman and he will face Bill Haas who beat Kevin Na one up.
Rahm soon got the putter going and holed from 20 and 28 feet on the second and third to quickly move two up.
Some bunker trouble on the fifth then led to a concession but Howell found the sand off the tee himself on the par three seventh and the cushion was re-established.
Howell then got in trouble off the tee on the ninth and a concession followed before approaches to inside six feet on the tenth, 12th and 14th saw Rahm home.
"This morning was definitely the best I played as a whole," said Rahm. "The first few days I hit the driver really well the whole round and that's probably why I won.

A McGirt bogey on the second handed Kjeldsen an early lead but the American bounced straight back with a birdie on the next.
Kjeldsen's renowned wedge play then came into force on the fifth with an approach to six feet and the lead was once again with the four-time European Tour winner, with McGirt bogeying the eighth and ninth to extend the gap.
A birdie on the 12th moved Kjeldsen four up and an approach to four feet on the 14th sealed the deal.
"I've played nicely all around really," said Kjeldsen. "I think my long game is good. I think my short game is nice. Again today I thought I managed to make the putts at the right time. I just played very, very solid so it was nice.

Haas and Na each won one of the first seven holes before a birdie and a Na concession put Haas two up at the turn. Birdies on the 13th and 14th then evened things up before a Haas gain on the 15th proved decisive.
Mickelson had a 100 per cent record from the group stage and continued that brilliant form on Saturday winning the third and sixth thanks to excellent approaches with Leishman finding the water on the fourth.
That dialled-in wedge play continued to bring Mickelson the eighth and ninth and a Leishman concession on the tenth had the left-hander in total control at five up.
The Australian won the 11th and 12th to hand him a glimmer of hope but a poor second shot on the 15th led to a concession and a Mickelson victory.
