Quesne primed for Jamieson pursuit

Julien Quesne is looking to make January a month of double celebrations after moving into contention at the Volvo Golf Champions with a third round 67.

The Frenchman, whose wife is due to give birth to the couple’s first child in two weeks’ time, shares second place on ten under par at Durban Country Club.

That is still five behind runaway leader Scott Jamieson, but last year’s Open de Andalucía winner has not ruled out catching the Scot in the final round.

“I will try,” said Quesne. “With the rain, with the wind, we never know. I will do my best tomorrow so we'll see.

“I’m very happy with my game. I enjoyed today more than the past two days.”

The highlight of the 32 year old’s round came with a magnificent second at the par five third to two feet, and the resulting eagle was followed by seven birdies and four bogeys.

“I hit the ball very well,” he added. “My driving is very good, I hit a lot of fairways and my putting is much better than usual.”
