Poulter going well

Ian Poulter continued to make good progress as the second round of the BMW PGA Championship began at Wentworth Club.

Four strokes adrift of Luke Donald after the opening round, the newly-crowned Volvo World Match Play champion holed an eight foot birdie putt at the first.

A dropped shot at the third sent him into back into the pack on three under, but the World Number 14 responded with a birdie at the sixth and was up to fourth place as a result.

Donald, seemingly strolling towards the World Number One spot after a sensational opening 64, was among the afternoon starters, as were Sweden's Johan Edfors and Italian Matteo Manassero - the pair tied for second on five under.

Another Swede, Oscar Floren, had returned to resume his first round four under with five to play, and after a double bogey at the 16th birdied both of the closing par fives to draw level with Poulter.

With the majority of players wearing some navy blue in memory of Seve Ballesteros - it is 20 years ago exactly that he beat Colin Montgomerie in a play-off - the race to catch Donald was led by twice winner Anders Hansen.

After an opening 69 he bogeyed the first, but then rattled off four birdies in the next six holes to join Manassero and Edfors on five under.
