Porsche European Open reduced to 54 holes

The Porsche European Open will be completed over 54 holes after fog caused early morning delays at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach for the third day in succession.

Nearly seven hours of play was lost on days one and two, with the start on day three delayed for a further three hours once again due to fog.

With half the field not being able to begin their second rounds until 1130 on Saturday, it was decided that the third and now final round would not begin until Sunday.

The final round will not begin before 0900 on Sunday, with players going off in three balls from two tees in a U draw.

"The weather hasn't been on our side but the guys here at Bad Griesbach have made a fantastic job of making sure after all the rainfall we had last week that we could actually start on Thursday," said Tournament Director Mikael Eriksson.

"We're planning to finish the second round tonight around 1830 and then do a normal cut and play the final round tomorrow morning from two tees in three balls in a U draw and the tournament will be held over 54 holes.

"There is a possibility of fog, that's why we don't want to start before 0900 and that's why also we're starting from two tees in three balls, to maximise our time tomorrow.

"54 is the best outcome, they've done a fantastic job with the golf course after that rain we had last week and well done to everybody involved."
