Skolkovo Golf Club, hosting its first European Tour event at this week’s M2M Russian Open, has proven a resounding success with players heaping praise on the Jack Nicklaus Signature design and the immaculate conditions they have been met with this week. Here's what they had to say:
Scott Jamieson - It’s flawless
They're probably the best conditions we’ve seen all year. There’s hardly a blade of grass out of place anywhere across the whole estate so it’s a pleasure to come and play.”
David Horsey - It’s immaculate
It keeps you thinking, there’s no let up. You can quite easily shoot 62 but you can probably quite easily shoot 78 or 80, so if you get on the wrong sides of those flags you can get yourself into a bit of trouble.”

They have a lot of cold weather over here and you wonder what happens the courses in England, because this is absolutely immaculate. It’s an incredible place to play and I think the lads have really enjoyed it here this week.”

It is generous off the tee, but then it’s a really good challenge into the greens. I think the pins were pretty good today for a first round, they’re usually a bit easier than that. It’s a pleasure to come here and play.”

Craig Lee - It’s a fantastic golf course
I do like Nicklaus designs, he’s pretty fair. It’s generous off the tee but the greens are very interesting – it would probably take a good seven or eight rounds before you got to know where all the slopes are.”

You have to play really good shots into the greens and if you short-sight yourself, you’re going to have a really tough little up and down. I didn’t know it was only open one year, that’s really impressive. It’s in such good condition, a really good track.”

Michael Hoey - It’s just quality
It’s quite wide off the tee and it’s a Nicklaus design so the greens are shaped side-on. The putting surfaces are phenomenal and it’s quite straight-forward but it’s very enjoyable.”
