Yannik Paul enjoyed an impressive first season on the European Challenge Tour, finishing in ninth position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings to earn promotion to the DP World Tour in 2022.
The German, who is living in Arizona, burst onto the scene at the Irish Challenge at the start of the year with a tie for fourth place at Portmarnock Links and continued to impress for the remainder of the campaign with six further top ten finishes, including a second place at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A.
The 27-year-old arrived at the season finale in 19th position on the Rankings with work to do if he was to secure his 2022 DP World Tour playing rights but after an opening four under par round of 67, Paul set his sights on the Rolex Grand Final trophy. The German finished on seven under par, just one-shot back from eventual Rolex Grand Final and Rankings winner Marcus Helligkilde.
Paul attended the University of Colorado alongside twin brother Jeremy, playing in four NCAA Championships and four conference championships and his career average of 72.11 is second in the Universities history only to twin brother Jeremy’s average of 71.72.
