Pierre Pineau is hoping to continue his push towards promotion when he tees it up in the Rosa Challenge Tour at Rosa Golf Club this week, as the Challenge Tour returns to Poland for the first time in 15 years.
The Frenchman has been a model of consistency throughout the 2024 Road to Mallorca, recording six top ten finishes in 18 starts, with three of those coming in his last five outings.
The 25-year-old’s recent form has seen him climb to a season-high 13th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, to put himself in a strong position to earn a first promotion to the DP World Tour.
Pineau admits confidence is high as he targets another strong finish on a course that, he says, suits his eye.
“I’ve been very consistent off the tee which is why I like the course this week,” he said. “The course is nice, and with it being demanding off the tee, I feel good about my chances.
“I feel like I can win, and I think I could’ve won each of the last five weeks, but sometimes you just need that little bit extra to get over the line.
“I don’t need to win but if I keep playing like I have been, I’ll have some top fives, top tens, and one day one of those will turn into a win.”
Pineau, who earned full playing privileges on the Challenge Tour after winning the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos in 2022, thinks that two years on, he’s now better prepared to make the leap to golf’s Global Tour.
“I think the last two seasons I wasn’t quite ready to get on to the DP World Tour,” he added. “I came from the Alps Tour and I won in 2022 on the Challenge Tour on an invite, so everything was moving very fast.
“I was maybe too young then, but I feel like I’m more mature now and more professional which is helping a lot.
“I’ve just got to continue what I’m doing, not worry too much about the result and it’ll come.”
Pineau is joined in the field in Poland by serial DP World Tour winners, Alvaro Quiros from Spain and Frenchman Alexander Levy, and Road to Mallorca Number Four Hamish Brown.
