Terry Pilkadaris enjoyed a stunning morning at Delhi Golf Club as he opened up a five-shot lead early on day two of the Hero Indian Open.
The Australian came into the day two shots off the overnight lead held by Daniel Im but quickly wiped that out before pulling away with nine birdies in his first 15 holes to get to 14 under.
Pilkadaris has yet to win on The European Tour but had his best result last season when he finished in a tie for second at the Made in Denmark after holding the lead approaching the turn on Sunday afternoon.
He was quickly into the lead in New Delhi with birdies on the first and second and when he picked up further shots on the sixth, eighth and ninth, he was into double figures after turning in 31.
The 42 year old made it four birdies in a row on the tenth and 11th and more gains followed on the 14th and 15th to move him clear of the field.
Nacho Elvira was his closest challenger as he continued his resurgence by reaching the turn in 33.
The Spaniard missed his first six cuts of the season but made the weekend in Thailand last week and followed an opening 66 here with birdies on the first, seventh and eighth.
Countryman Jorge Campillo was then in the group at seven under alongside American Im, who was among the later starters, Ben Evans and Raphaël Jacquelin.
Campillo started on the tenth and birdied the 18th to turn in 35 while Englishman Evans, who finished right on the bubble at 110th in The Race to Dubai last season, had six birdies and a bogey in his first 14 holes.
France's Jacquelin had three birdies and a bogey through ten holes after also starting on the back nine.
England's Chris Paisley was then at six under after picking up four shots in 14 holes, one ahead of Brazilian Adilson da Silva, who was five under for the day having played the same amount of holes.
