Throughout the season each monthly winner will be entered into the Shot of the Year competition where My European Tour fans will once again choose the best effort of 2013 when one man will follow in the footsteps of South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen, who claimed the prize most recently thanks to his stunning final round albatross at the Masters Tournament last April.
Just pick your favourite from the following:
Shot One:Having taken a five shot lead into the final round of the Volvo Golf Champions, fresh from a maiden triumph at the Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa just a month prior, Scott Jamieson struggled on the final day, but when faced with a 40-yard pitch at the par four last for an eagle that would have tied eventual champion Louis Oosthuizen, the Scot fizzed in a delightful effort from within the crowd that missed by mere inches.
Shot Two:Jamie Donaldson only won for the first time last July at the Irish Open but he claimed a second title in January at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, which was in some part due to this sublime little bunker shot on day one at the par four third hole that found the bottom of the cup for a fine birdie en route to an opening 67 to lead alongside Justin Rose after 18 holes.
Shot Three: Thorbjørn Olesen had a fine time of things in the Middle East after a tie for second at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and a joint third place finish at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, and while he may have only finished some 20 places worse at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, he still had this fine shot during round three at the driveable par four 16ththat flopped high into the air and down into the cup for an unlikely eagle.
Shot Four: Chris Wood waited a long time for his first win on The European Tour, and thanks to this pin-point long iron under the utmost pressure down the last at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters that set up a tournament clinching eagle, he finally prevailed.
Shot Five: Next up is the first of a Stephen Gallacher victory triple from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic where, faced with a dreaded mid-range bunker shot back towards the water at the par five last, he clipped in the deftest of wedge shots that rolled dead-weight into the centre of the cup.
Shot Six: A couple of early bogeys to start the final round had seen Stephen Gallacher’s three shot lead quickly eroded as he lay tied at the top alongside Richard Sterne, but coming fresh off another bogey at the eighth to fall one behind, the Scot drew in a delightful escape at the ninth from behind a tree in the right rough that rolled up to three or so feet and set up a crucial birdie that saw him return to the top alongside Sterne.
Shot Seven: Having established a one shot lead over Richard Sterne, and stood in the the first cut of rough on the left side of the 16thfairway with an ideal look at the right-hand flag, Stephen Gallacher hit another career shot when he found the cup with his mid-iron approach for a tournament winning eagle two and a three shot swing as Sterne fell to a damaging bogey five on the same hole.
