Peterson looking forward to title defence

Defending champion Paul Peterson is delighted to be back at the scene of his first European Tour title after what he called "an awesome year".

The American saw off the challenge of Belgium's Thomas Pieters to claim his maiden victory in last year's D+D REAL Czech Masters at Albatross Golf Resort.

And after putting in a strong performance at last week's Made in Denmark, where he posted a brilliant 65 on Saturday, Peterson is hoping for another good showing in the Czech Republic as he targets a solid finish to the season.

He said: "The course is in great shape as always at Albatross and I'm looking forward to getting out there.

"I felt like I was getting some momentum from last week and hopefully I can bring that out here this week.

"It was a huge day - I didn't even have full status. It was great to prove to myself really that I had what it takes to win out here and it's been an awesome year, being able to play a full schedule and give myself an opportunity to play for years to come.

"I think the best part about Albatross is that it doesn't have any silly holes. It's fair the whole way around, I think it has a good balance between short par fours, long pars fours, long par threes and moving the tee up on 16 a little bit so you get versatility, water and fairway bunkers.

"So it's just really well rounded.

"I think we have eight events left in the season and I'm looking forward to finishing strongly."

Fellow American John Daly believes putting well will be the key to success this week.

Daly heads to Prague fresh from a brilliant week in Denmark, where he finished in a tie for tenth.

He said: "It's not the easiest of golf courses but the key is hitting the fairways and, of course, whoever is number one or two in putting this week usually wins.

"So if you can get that stat going it would be pretty good."
