Perez looking to tie up European Tour card in Ras Al Khaimah

Victor Perez is eager to seal his place on the European Tour for 2018 with victory at this week’s Ras Al Khaimah, 2017 Golf Challenge.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an excellent rookie season on the European Challenge Tour, during which he won his first title in style at the Challenge de España – where he shot a stunning 11 under par 61 and made a final round hole-in-one en route to victory.

The 25 year old, who qualified for the 2017 Road to Oman by finishing in the top five on the satellite Alps Tour, sits 17th in the Rankings with just two events left to play.

Having exceeded his initial expectations at the start of the season, Perez is now targeting back-to-back promotions by finishing in the top 15 in the Rankings.

“I feel as though I can definitely make the top 15,” he said. “You have just got to try and play as well as you can and see where it takes you. I feel really good and although I didn’t get going last week I still feel as though my game is good. Hopefully everything will click into place for me over the final two events.

“I feel like there is so much going on at the moment. The tournaments are so big that anything can happen. It is really hard to calculate anything as one guy can come from way out and win the tournament which then changes everything.

“I am really pleased with where I am. It took me a little while to get going this year and to believe I could compete at this level, but after starting to feel comfortable on the Challenge Tour I felt as though some good results were not far away.

“I have been able to win and also finish as a runner-up so hopefully I can now be challenging for another title during the next two events.”

This week Perez will tee it up at Al Hamra Golf Club in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah for the first time.

Although he has not played at the picturesque course before, Perez is looking forward to the challenge that it will pose at such a key point in the season.

“I am excited to play there,” he said. “I don’t think that too many of the other guys have played there before so I am hoping that will work to my advantage – I am looking forward to discovering what’s there.”
