Eddie Pepperell has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for October after winning his second European Tour title in 2018 at the Sky Sports British Masters.
The Englishman received 44 per cent of the public vote ahead of Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winner Lucas Bjerregaard, who collected 32 per cent of the vote to claim second place.
Pepperell led from the front at Walton Heath, recording a hole-in-one in his opening-round and making good on a 36-hole solo-lead to claim his second European Tour victory of the 2018 season after also winning in Qatar earlier in the year.
Pepperell did not trail all week, and held his nerve on the weekend — overcoming cold, windy and rainy ‘British’ conditions to secure a two-stroke victory amid an impressive campaign that has seen him threaten for a spot on the European Ryder Cup team, and rise 100 places on the Official World Golf Ranking since the New Year.
Bjerregaard, who finished second in the October competition, continued the good form he exhibited in September, when he lost in a play-off to Matt Fitzpatrick, by recording the biggest victory of his career in winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
With defending champion Tyrrell Hatton six shots ahead of him with 12 holes to play, Bjerregaard reeled the Englishman in with his final round of 67 to take the title by one shot as Hatton stumbled on the back nine.
Sergio Garcia came third with 18 per cent of the public vote after defending his title at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters hosted by his own Sergio Garcia Foundation while Xander Schauffele came in fourth after winning his maiden European Tour title at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
