Eddie Pepperell moved to within a shot of the lead at the King’s Cup presented by PTT Group after posting a sensational 63 on Saturday.
The Englishman, who started the day six strokes adrift of co-leaders Terry Pilkadaris and Sattaya Supupramai, carded an eagle, six birdies and a single bogey to set the clubhouse target at eight under par.
His third-round total - the joint-best score of the tournament so far - was enough to see him sit third, just one stroke behind Chan Shih-chang and South African Jaco Ahlers.
Chan reached the turn in 31 after notching four birdies on the front nine before picking up further shots at the 11th, 13th and 15th to move to nine under.
Pilkadaris and Supupramai were among the large group another shot behind Pepperell on seven under.
