Pedro Figueiredo and Mike Kisia enjoyed a memorable reunion on Thursday as they played in the same group at the 2023 Magical Kenya Open Presented by Absa.
In 2018 Portugal's Figueiredo arrived in Kenya for the European Challenge Tour event at Muthaiga Golf Club and needed a caddie for the qualifier.
Kenyan Kisia agreed to help out and after they successfully qualified, he remained on the bag for the tournament.
Five years later and the pair were back together at Muthaiga, but this time they were playing partners on the DP World Tour - something Kisia dreamt of when they first met.
Figueiredo said: "In 2018 I came to play the Kenya Open qualifier - on the Challenge Tour at the time - and when I got there I asked for a caddie and Mike was willing to help me.
"We made it through to the tournament and he caddied for me here at Muthaiga and now five years later we're playing together here as well."
Figueiredo posted a level-par 71 on Thursday while Kisia signed for a first-round 75.
Kisia said: "When I caddied for Pedro I learned from him. His putting, his short game, his chipping. I said one day I'd love to play on the DP World Tour with him.
"So I was so glad. I even thought he was the one who fixed that draw! I'm so happy."
Figueiredo added: "It was a good draw. We both felt lucky we got paired together, so it was a good experience for both of us."
Kisia, standing alongside Figueiredo, said: "I really felt very comfortable with Pedro. He was encouraging me on some holes, like 'OK, you're doing good'."
