Paul Lawrie Match Play: Day 1 in numbers

64 players started the day. 32 remain. It was a testing day on the links of Murcar but we saw some impressive play during the first round of the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play. Here's a look at some of the key numbers from Thursday's action.

56 - Per cent of higher seeds won their matches today. The highest seed to go out was Raphael Jacquelin who was seeded sixth. He was beaten by Seve Benson 2&1.

63- Marc Warren’s 18 hole score today, the lowest of the day as he won by one hole. The course record at Murcar is 62, shot by Richie Ramsay in 2006.

6 - Birdies for Richard Bland, the most of anyone in the field. However, he lost his match by one hole to Warren.

62- Players would have lost to Bland with his scores today. The only one who scored better was his opponent Marc Warren. Classic match play golf!

5 - of the six Scots in the field won their opening matches. Of the local lads, only Scott Jamieson failed to progress, losing 3&2 to Thomas Aiken.
