Parry makes early surge

John Parry leaped to the top of the leaderboard as he made the early move on day two of the Made in Denmark.

The Englishman, who has missed five of the last six cuts, had started the day three shots behind overnight leader David Horsey but got off to a flying start with birdies on the tenth and 11th after starting on the back nine.

Three pars followed but another birdie on the 15th moved him into a share of the lead and when he picked up a shot on the 17th, he was out in front on his own at nine under as he reached the turn in 31.

Mads Søgaard was also four under for the day and two shots behind Parry after picking up four shots in his opening seven holes.

The Dane eagled the fourth and then back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh catapulted him up the leaderboard and made him the leading member of the home contingent.

Oliver Farr, who picked up seven shots from the third to the eighth in his first round, could not repeat the trick on Friday as he bogeyed the fifth on his way to an outward 37, and he was six under for the tournament through 12 holes alongside fellow Welshman Bradley Dredge.

Chris Paisley had gained two shots in his opening eight holes to sit at five under while American Paul Peterson made a fast start with three birdies in his first five holes moving him to three under.

Further down the leaderboard, Spain's Alvaro Velasco was battling hard to make the cut as a run of four birdies from the 14th helped him to three under for the day and level par for the tournament, one adrift of the early projected cut line.
