Italy's Renato Paratore won his first European Tour title at the Nordea Masters and climbed the Race to Dubai presented by Rolex Rankings.
The 20-year-old, who is the youngest winner on the European Tour since GolfSixes team-mate Matteo Manassero in 2010, claimed 250,000 points for the win and made a significant jump from 85th to 35th position in the Rankings.
Fitzpatrick and Wood gained 130,280 points each after sharing second place, with Fitzpatrick moving from 30th to 19th.
George Coetzee and Thorbjorn Olesen each gained 69,300 points for the performances in Sweden. Olesen, who jumped from 74th to 60th, will be looking to appear at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the seventh consecutive year.
Wales' Jamie Donaldson finished in seventh place and in the process claimed 45,000 points to move from 181st to 131st.
Benjamin Herbert, Eddie Pepperell, Austin Connelly, Jeunghun Wang, Andy Sullivan, Nicolas Colsaerts and Marcel Siem were all tied in eighth, with Colsaerts the highest-placed of that group at 33rd in the Rankings.
Spain's Sergio Garcia remains at the head of the Race to Dubai rankings with 2,440,596 points.
