Wade Ormsby believes all his experience of playing on the European Tour could help lead him to a first professional win on home soil at the Australian PGA Championship.
He may be a proud Aussie but Ormsby has spent the bulk of his career playing in Europe, first gaining his card through the Qualifying School in 2003 and going to play 314 events.
He claimed a maiden victory at the 2018 UBS Hong Kong Open but is still searching for a win on Australian soil, having finished second both at this event and at the ISPS Handa Vic Open.
A 69 in round two at RACV Royal Pines Resort left him well positioned heading into the weekend, and Ormsby believes more Australians can benefit from making the big leap to Europe.
"Well, it's difficult to get your card anywhere," he said. "Europe's probably one of the only tours where you can go to tour school and get all the way through and get good status straight away from Q School, so that's one big draw card for Europe.

"It also has plenty of World Ranking points, enough that you can climb your way up the World Rankings.
"The European Tour's getting stronger and stronger and obviously with the results in the Ryder Cup and the guts of the players over there, we've got plenty of stronger players so the depth is over there.
"I think it's a great pathway for young blokes to go."
Sat alongside Ormsby at seven under was Adam Scott after the former World Number One fired a 67.
The 2013 champion finished second alongside Ormsby 12 months later and is happy with his week's work so far.
"It was a good solid round today, which I needed to kind of stay on the pace," he said. "Generally played really good today, so I'm pretty happy shooting 67. You should be most times you shoot 67.
"I played fairly defensive into the greens because I thought the pins were actually a little more tucked today and to get it really close you must risk hitting it down some of the big runoffs off these greens. So I didn't really want to do that too much and I played safe.
"I rolled a lot of nice putts. A lot went by the edge but I made a couple as well."
