Open D'Italia Pro-Am raises significant funds

Professional and amateur players alike have raised significant funds for the Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica (Italian Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation) through this week’s 71˚ Open D’Italia Presented by DAMIANI Pro-Am.

The Italian Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation promotes and supports scientific research undertaken to find and implement innovative therapies for patients affected by Cystic Fibrosis.  The Foundation also educates health professionals in the latest research techniques and patient care.

All participating professionals have shown their support of the organisation by donating their pro-am appearance fee in full, raising in excess of €5,000.  Eduardo Molinari said: “I’m  sure I can say on behalf of all my fellow professional we are pleased to help by donating our fee and hope that the funds raised will have a positive benefit to the charity.”

The amateur players were also given the chance to support the Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica through a series of competitions on the par 3 holes.  For donation of €20 the amateurs were given the chance to win great prizes such as a magnum of “Brunello di Montalcino” and a holiday courtesy of Club Mediterranee.

The contributions from the amateur players added a further €6,000 taking the grand total raised to €11,000.

Alessandro Rogaro and Barbara Zonchello from the Italian Golf Federation added: “We are grateful to both the professionals and amateurs for the support of our chosen charity the amount raised will make a significant impact on the organisation and we hope that the association with the Open D’Italia will bring much needed awareness of the Cystic Fibrosis and the Research Foundation.”
