Mickelson, who made history in 2013 by winning the Scottish Open and Open Championship in back-to-back weeks, hits the Balgownie Links at 0820 with Donald, who won the respected tournament back in 2011 at Castle Stuart, and three-time European Tour victor Luiten.

Former World Number One Rory McIlroy, this week playing his first Scottish Open since 2009, is out at 0840 with Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee and Welshman Jamie Donaldson, while 2013 US Open Champion Justin Rose has compatriot Lee Westwood and home favourite Stephen Gallacher for company from 1300 on Thursday.

Current Race to Dubai leader Thomas Bjorn tees off at 1310 with American fashionista Rickie Fowler and French up-and-comer Victor Dubuisson, while 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley is out alongside the man he took over from – Jose Maria Olazabal – and Rafa Cabrera-Bello from 1230.

In what will be an incredibly popular threeball, the effervescent Ian Poulter is alongside evergreen Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez and American US PGA Tour star Jimmy Walker from 0830.

Aberdeen native Paul Lawrie will be playing with two-time Scottish Open champion Ernie Els from 1320 in a group completed by Swedish Ryder Cup hopeful Jonas Blixt.

Six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, playing in his first regular European Tour event since the 2010 BMW International Open, is out at 1240, meanwhile, with Italian prodigy Matteo Manassero and Australia’s Brett Rumford.

American Qualifying School graduate John Hahn will hit the opening tee shot of the 2014 Scottish Open at precisely 0630 on Thursday morning.
